Changi Airport operates on a 24/7 basis, serving our passengers and airline partners.  Resource planning and operations are key considerations to delivering high-performing airfield systems. One of the airfield systems which is highly critical to airport operations is aircraft pavement maintenance and airfield turf management. Upkeeping the performance and serviceability of aircraft pavements and optimizing the management of airfield turf in Changi airport is our priority to ensure that aircraft operations are not disrupted with minimal wildlife hazards. 

 

With the upcoming developments in Changi East, the asset bases for aircraft pavements and airfield turf are growing rapidly. Reaping manpower productivities and aiming for higher efficiencies through re-design, re-processing and development of new materials is an ongoing journey, as we move away from labour-intensive activities. For example, in recent years, Changi Airport Group has started trials and fielded autonomous robotic grass cutters in the airfield. Feasibility and safety studies are ongoing to take autonomous robotic grass cutting to the next level. New processes to digitize our asset data for better maintenance planning for our aircraft pavements are being introduced. 
 
As part of Changi Airport Group’s Engineering team, you will be part of the team managing the upkeeping of our airfield pavements and airfield turf. You shall be responsible to study, explore and implement ways to further optimize our resources for pavement and airfield turf maintenance, including transforming airfield turf management to an eventual state of ‘manless’ operations by designing and managing a fleet of robotic grass cutters. Other than airfield turf maintenance, you will also be part of the team responsible for the maintenance and improvement works required for our runway-condition reporting system.  

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Preferably with 3 years of work experience
  • Candidates with no working experience are welcome to apply
  • Interest in working on autonomous equipment / robotics and in software development and applications
  • Possesses a great work attitude and enjoys field work
  • Good writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and able to multi-task in fast paced environment
