Title: Assistant Manager, Engineering (iFerret System)
As part of Changi Airport Group’s Engineering team in iFerret, the position shall be required to work with the vendors, users, external agencies, and internal stakeholders on the project management, operation and maintenance of the iFerret foreign object debris (FOD) detection system deployed in Singapore Changi Airport. S/he shall support the team in the procurement, contracting and tender evaluation, on-site system installation, testing & commissioning for the project implementation, as well as manage day-to-day maintenance activities such as fault response and rectification as well as incident tracking.
The position shall also review, develop and enhance workflows, operating procedures as well as strategies for maintenance to optimize the iFerret system performance, reliability and availability in ensuring Changi's runways are well protected 24/7 against the threat of foreign object debris which could potentially affect aircraft safety and flight operations.
Continuous engagement on other system improvement projects shall also be undertaken to further enhance and strengthen the core competencies and iFerret system capabilities for Changi Airport.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the project management and maintenance for the iFerret system in Changi Airport.
- Support the team in the procurement tender evaluation, on-site system installation, testing & commissioning and handover for the project implementation phase.
- Support the team to develop technical capability and knowledge competency in a vision-based detection system, facilitate knowledge transfer from vendors to the in-house maintenance team.
- Propose and work on initiatives in the system planning, development, implementation and management of the iFerret system to support the operation and maintenance.
- Responsible for overseeing the system performance, reliability, safety and cost management for the project management and maintenance phase of the iFerret system.
- Support the digitization and innovation initiatives for the iFerret system.
- Lead technical discussions, manage project schedules and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the operational requirements and standards for the iFerret system in a timely manner.
- Manage the system vendors to ensure all system faults are duly followed up with detail failure investigation and maintenance services conducted to maintain the highest system performance standards.
- Perform the safety assessment reviews for new iFerret system deployment, minor improvement works and maintenance activities in the airfield.
Job Requirements
- Degree in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computing, Telecommunication, or equivalent.
- Good knowledge on computer vision, electro-optic detection sensors, radar and/or thermal sensors technologies.
- At least 2-years of engineering knowledge and relevant working experience in vision-based detection systems is preferred.
- Prior experience working in an aviation environment is an added advantage.
- Calm disposition to handle and resolve unforeseen circumstances.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
- Good project management and collaboration/coordination skills.
- Good presentation skills.
- Must be able to perform night duties for project works, system calibration, testing & commissioning and corrective maintenance works when required.
- This will be a contract position for a three-year period.
